Information For Parents
Useful Info for Parents
Picking the right nursery for your child can be pretty challenging. There are a lot of things to consider, from the location and what the nursery looks like on the inside to whether you get on with the staff and feel you can trust them to look after your child.
To help out, we’ve compiled a list of answers to frequently asked questions and a quick guide to the resources available.
Where is Your Nursery?
Our nursery is located in the Herne Hill ward of Lambeth on Eastlake Road.
What is Your Catchment Area?
Our parents either come from or work in or around Brixton. That includes areas such as:
Herne Hill · Loughborough Junction · Brixton · Camberwell · Dulwich · Denmark Hill
How Many Children Do You Look After?
Key to our success at Armadillo Nurseries is ensuring that we are able to provide individual attention and care for each child. That naturally limits the number of places we have but is does mean we are able to provide high quality teaching and learning for everyone we look after.
Are Your Staff Qualified?
All our staff are either qualified as nursery practitioners or are working towards their qualification. To deliver the quality nursery experience that we do requires a full understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and how to implement it in a creative and exciting way for children. All our staff are also trained in the appropriate aspect of safeguarding and health and safety.
Are You Registered with Ofsted?
Yes. Ofsted is the regulatory body for teaching and learning in schools and early years education. That means we can be inspected at any time, without notice, and a report produced on how we are performing.
What Financial Help is Available for Childcare?
One of the biggest worries that parents have is how they are going to afford childcare and sending their child to a nursery in the first place. The good news is that there are plenty of options out there. The Government produces a useful list of all the financial help available to parents, including qualification for free childcare and how to use childcare vouchers. You can find out more here.
Alternatively, you can sit down with our nursery team and explore the options open to you.
How Do I Arrange a Visit?
The first thing you’ll want to do is pay a visit, meet our staff and see us in action. Book an appointment today online and we’ll be happy to arrange to show you around. Alternatively, you can contact us by phone on 020 7274 8978. We look forward to hearing from you.

What are childcare vouchers?
Childcare vouchers can be offered to you by your employer in addition to your salary but are more commonly offered as a “salary sacrifice”. This means that you sacrifice a specific amount of your salary and receive that equivalent amount in childcare vouchers. This means you will only pay tax and NIC on the reduced level of your salary. For more information on childcare vouchers visit the Day Care Trust. The key is they enable you to pay for childcare out of your pre-tax and National Insurance income. While this doesn’t sound like much, the benefit is huge.
